Hey, welcome back! If you’ve got lots of paper scraps laying around, you’ll enjoy this simple card to use them up. I am a bit of a paper hoarder (I’m sure none of you do that!), and I hate to throw away even small scraps. But sometimes it’s difficult to figure out what to do with them. Until now, that is.
These strips are all cut from the same 6 x 6 paper pad, by Momenta. Each strip is 1/4″ wide, but they don’t all have to be the same width. These are leftovers from this card I made a few months ago. I love rainbow colors, but use any colors you have. Several shades of one color would be beautiful, too.
I cut a piece of white cardstock to 3 3/4 x 5, and attached my strips to the panel with tape runner. Next I turned the paper over and trimmed off the pieces hanging off with scissors. No measuring necessary!
This sentiment is from WPlus9’s Southern Sentiment stamp set. I stamped it with Onyx Black Versafine Ink, and heat embossed it in clear. The square stitched die is from my stash, and I don’t know who it’s from, but Simon Says Stamp has a similar version. I’m holding it in place with a piece of Post It tape to keep it from shifting when I run it through my die machine. Then I cut a black mat with the next larger die.
I stamped “you shouldn’t have” under the strips of paper with Versafine ink, and attached the panel to my card base with tape runner. Then I popped up the sentiment with foam tape. You could add sequins or shimmer, but I kept this card very simple. This would also be great for a birthday card, or pretty much any occasion. Just change the colors and the sentiment.
And I have a quick announcement: StampNation has a new Stamp Of Approval box coming on October 10! This box has a holiday theme, so if you need Christmas cards, you might want to check this out! There will be blog hops and lots of sneak peeks coming, so you get a chance to see everything in the box before you buy it. Last time the box sold out in hours, so if you want to make sure you get one, make sure you’re on the wait list. And if you join us at StampNation, you get the link earlier than everyone else!
How do you use up your scraps? Let me know in the comments, and I’ll be back soon. See you then!
